 an update from my side. I thought I only had it with vista, but I
 downloaded the latest version om my XP laptop, and there the focus gets
 hijacked too.
 Interesting notion on the having to be typing thing for it to get
 hijacked. I hadn't noticed, but it is possible that this is a factor, I
 will pay attention to it.
 The instruction "download the older GTK+" just stumped me. I couldn't find
 it. I found another "stable" version of GTK+ when googling "GTK+" but the
 wrong version, it came in a zip file, and I have no idea where to store
 those files.
 I am not a anadigibetic, but if you want to be helpful to end users, you
 have to be a bit more specific.
 Pidgin has stopped being stable altogether, and it keeps crashing. I am
 hoarding log files, but I am still trying to find a way to remove my
 personal conversation from that without rendering the log files useless.

 Meanwhile, I would be very happy with a bit more elaborate explanation of
 how to install an older version of GTK+
