Comment:

 If you guys want an improved patch then I'll try to work on it. Otherwise
 I can wait for 3.0.0 for a proper fix.

 In the meantime having a warning would definitely improve the situation,
 but I am wondering ''where'' the warning should be put, since
 "configure.ac" is certainly not the correct place (or at least it can be
 correct but it cannot be the only place); it has to be put somewhere where
 people who just use pidgin from a package (or people like me who just type
 "configure && make") must see the warning at runtime.
