Comment:

 There's nothing inherently "uncomfortable" that I can see about the
 screenshot.

 At any rate, as of 2.4.2 there is a "Minimum input area height in lines"
 setting, the maximum size is half the window height, and it can be made
 draggable with a plugin - I think this can be considered addressed.
