Comment:

 No.  The new tab does not become active.  Whatever tab that I am on, stays
 the active tab, but the focus in the text box is stolen by the first tab
 (or if you are on the first tab the second tab steals text focus).

 I hope that helps.

 Not sure what plugin you are referring too, but I don't use anything to
 resize the input area.
