 It could be links or pasting things.

 I'll try control+r the next time one of my friends mentions it appears.
 Some of them have gotten used to it by now -- I few told me that they see
 it from time to time from me, but that they never say anything!

 My AIM contacts do not appear to ever receive the weird rgb(0 stuff.
