 I am going to attach another stack trace.  This one was with my "Personal"
 (i.e. local") address book set as default I got another one of these
 hangs.  Notice the lookup to the LDAP server.  This is a local and up and
 running LDAP server.  There should be no problem in accessing it so this
 should not cause pidgin to block.

 IOW, this is not a situation of address books being unavailable.  They are
 very available.
