 yes this problem is very humiliating.

 To become an IRC operator and to be able to chat with NickServ, BotServ,
 ChanServ... to execute special commands, there is no other way than
 sending "/OPER nickname password"

 If you cannot add this command, it may be useful to give the user the
 right to send a raw command from an input box.

 It is really necessary, Pidgin is eligible to support a so easy command
 with a so nice power.

 Thanks for a further version.
