#7498: Crash with 2 simultaneous pidgin processes
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------

The following steps make pidgin crash (pretty consistently on my PC):

 1. user1 logs on to a GUI session on the computer.

 2. user1 launches pidgin.

 3. user1 allows user2 to do an "su - user2" in a terminal window.

 4. user2 starts pidgin from that terminal session.

Let's assume that user2 goes online invisible by default. As soon as user2
goes to "Available", pidgin crashes. However, it appears that user2's
pidgin doesn't immediately crash, when going to the Available status via
an intermediate status step. However, as soon as user2 types an IM
message, pidgin still crashes. I have the impression that this is due to
user2's pidgin attempting to play a sound as the crash info in the
terminal window mentions something about assertion failures with regard to
 GStreamer:

 --------
 (pidgin:4483): GStreamer-CRITICAL **:
Trying to dispose element play, but it is not in the NULL state.
You need to explicitly set elements to the NULL state before
dropping the final reference, to allow them to clean up.

 (pidgin:4483): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_element_set_state: assertion
 `GST_IS_ELEMENT (element)' failed

 (pidgin:4483): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_object_unref: assertion
 `((GObject *) object)->ref_count > 0' failed
Pidgin 2.5.2 has segfaulted and attempted to dump a core file.
This is a bug in the software and has happened through
 no fault of your own.
 --------

For what it's worth, I have seen this in 2.4.* but upgrading to 2.5.2
didn't change it for me. My OS is Fedora 7 and I have GStreamer 0.10.14
 packages.
