 I tried to do that. I went here:
 http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/GetABacktrace
 but I have no clue what gdb is (under "the easy way"). I am not a techie!
 However, I managed to get a log, and waited patiently, and pidgin crashed
 indeed.
 The nasty thing is that I have a Dutch version of Vista... however, let me
 see if we can work this out!

 the last bit of the log before it crashes is this:

 So, there appears to be some problem with storing space somewhere, but all
 my disks have at least 5 Gig free space.
 Would you like me to try to get a screen shot of what it looks like when
 this crash happens? because I always get coloured blocks over the window I
 am in.
 What is also remarkable is that when I start pidgin for the first time
 after I started my PC, it takes quite a long time before it crashes, but
 crash it will. After that it crashes sooner.

 Any clues? Can I do anything else to help you guys help me?
 I will keep collecting logs, meanwhile.
