#7560: AIM Random/Intermittent Connectivity Issues

Component: AIM | Version: 2.5.2

For the last several days, I have been having random/intermittent AIM
connectivity issues. It will disconnect me with a number of errors, such
as "Authentication Failed" or "Could not connect to BOP Server: Connection
timed out" or what not. Attempts to reconnect work sometimes, but every
time something different happens. It does not seem to matter whether I'm
talking to someone via AIM or not, nor if anybody in my AIM list is even
on. MSN, ICQ and YIM are all connected without problems. My internet
connection is going strong, without any interruptions in service.
Relevant information for my system:
Windows XP x64 SP2
Pidgin v2.5.2
Dual network connections (internal network and an external network w/
Static IP address)
*NO* internet security software
*NO* firewall/proxy settings
Since the problem is rather intermittent and it acts differently, the
attached log file does not include every version of the problems that I
have seen. In particular, it does not show the BOP server error that I
only see on occasion. However, it does show a 2 minute hang up while
trying to reconnect that I gave up on and manually disabled/reenabled the
account and that allowed it to connect. I have removed irrelevant
information as far as I can tell (such as MSN/ICQ messages) and added
marginal comments to show what I did that caused the chain of events.
The only change I've made recently that may have anything to do with AIM
is I told it to specifically use my static external IP address for direct
IM mode since it was trying to use my internal network IP which (as
expected) didn't work.
