 I am using Pidgin 2.5.2 on Ubuntu Intrepid (kernel 2.6.27-8-generic), and
 I have the same problem. I just disabled all plug-ins and the memory goes
 like that:

 Open pidgin (1 MSN account active):
 UID        PID  PPID  C    SZ   RSS PSR STIME TTY          TIME CMD
 vseixas   4758     1  5 150195 75060  1 22:37 ?        00:00:03 pidgin

 Open 1 chat window:
 UID        PID  PPID  C    SZ   RSS PSR STIME TTY          TIME CMD
 vseixas   4758     1  4 159018 110052 0 22:37 ?        00:00:04 pidgin

 Close the chat window (no actual chat occurred, just opened and closed the
 window):
 UID        PID  PPID  C    SZ   RSS PSR STIME TTY          TIME CMD
 vseixas   4758     1  4 158431 108660 1 22:37 ?        00:00:05 pidgin

 Reopened the window and sent a message:
 UID        PID  PPID  C    SZ   RSS PSR STIME TTY          TIME CMD
 vseixas   4758     1  3 194758 115128 1 22:37 ?        00:00:08 pidgin

 With usage the memory keeps increasing on and on. Tell me if I can help
 with any other information.
