#7288: Blank message sent to stock AIM client when pasting text from Google Chrome
------------------------------------+---------------------------------------
Reporter: wffurr | Owner: MarkDoliner
Type: defect | Status: new
Component: AIM | Version: 2.5.1
Keywords: aim blank chrome paste |
------------------------------------+---------------------------------------
== Description ==
When I copy some formatted text from Google Chrome and paste it into my IM
conversation, my friend gets a blank message instead. The text appears
correctly to me in the send box and the conversation. It appears to only
happen with Google Chrome and AIM; text copied from my mail client and
Firefox worked fine; and text copied from Chrome and sent to my friend's
Google Talk account also worked fine.
== Versions ==
I'm using Google Chrome 0.2.149.30 and Pidgin 2.5.1. My friend is using
the official AIM client 6.8.12.4 and the online
[http://talkgadget.google.com/talkgadget/client Google Talk gadget]. His
AIM client is as-is out of the box, no themes or plugins or whatever the
official AIM client supports these days. I have the History, Ignore,
Release Notification, and Pidgin Encryption plugins enabled. I'm not
using the encryption plugin with this conversation.
== Steps to reproduce: ==
* Open Google Chrome[[BR]]
* Navigate to a page like [http://lifehacker.com/5064878/bumptop-beta-in-
action?t=8386795#viewcomments this one][[BR]]
* Copy some text from the page, e.g. "This is what the world was waiting
for! Now we can have a mess on our desks AND our desktops! Now i only need
to be able to pile up messages on my mobile..."[[BR]]
* Paste the text into a conversation[[BR]]
* Send the text as a message[[BR]]
* Ask your recipient if they received the message[[BR]]
I can also report this as a bug on the
[http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/list Google Chrome dev site] if
necessary.
Thanks!
