Comment:

 You need to upgrade to a newer GTK+ version than 2.6.10.

 I recommend version 2.12.12 (which is what we ship with  Pidgin 2.5.2),
 which is available from the [http://sf.net/projects/pidgin pidgin
 sourceforge site].
