 I and other coworkers tested a number of times against LCS 2005 using NTML
 authentication but no SSL.  We succeeded in getting connected and seeing
 all of our contacts showing as offline, but unable to communicate with
 anyone using Office Communicator (we never tried Pidgin to Pidgin via
 LCS).
