 I installed pidgin on a Centos 5.2 system using Gnome desktop using the
 add/remove program button.  When I start pidgin, no buddy list or other
 windows appear.  I can tell it's running via ps on the terminal window.
 If I send an IM from another system, it does display a conversation
 window, but I can't initiate a conversation.
 This seems similar to ticket 6742, which was closed with no resolution.
 I ran /usr/bin/pidgin -d from the terminal screen and attached the output.
