 Yes, it does:

 This time Pidgin 2.5.1 compiled from source
 Ubuntu Hardy 8.04
 Gnome
 OpenOffice 2.4

 - The title isn't shown (good)
 - The umlauts "äöüß" are ok (good)
 - There still is excessive whitespace around (bad)
 - If I drag the text over, instead of Ctrl+C / V I see something like the
 attached text. (bad)

 So, it's definitely still there
