 I followed the instructions here http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/Using
 Finch#enable-mouse but I couldn't get the mouse working.

 I tried with
 different terms: screen, xterm, urxvt, but the mouse was always
 completely ignored by finch.

 OTOH, the mouse does work for mc, vim and other console applications I
 normally use.

 My ncurses version is libncurses5  5.6+20071124-1ubuntu.

 My finch version is
 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu3~ppa1 (although I have download & compiled 2.5.1 with same
 results).

 My ~/.gntrc includes:

 [general]
 mouse = 1
