 In WinPidgin:

 Open a conversation window.  Bring to the front any other application
 window to hide the conversation window.  Right click on the task bar entry
 for the conversation window.

 What comes up is a white coloured window.

 Not sure if this is a fault with WinXP or GTK (as I can only test on
 WinXP).
