Comment:

 This sounds to me like perhaps the XMPP buddies being moved are in a
 shared roster list that the server provides and as such the server does
 not allow the buddy to actually be moved. The Debug Window output of
 moving the buddy and of the roster retrieval on the next log in would be
 useful in determining what, exactly, is going on.

 Please file a new ticket about this if and when you get the debug output I
 have requested. Leaving a (resolved) ticket belonging to someone else open
 is not the best way to handle this.
