 I'm also seeing something like this.  Initial symptom is MSN not
 connecting when I first run Pidgin.  I end up with the Status bar just
 showing "Available - Connecting" with the circle spinny thing NOT
 spinning.  The same usually happens again when I disable and re-enable the
 account.

 But sometimes it does work.  This might be related to one of my contacts,
 as I am getting the following error if I run with --debug:

 (21:42:52) soap: read: Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character

 Is that something that would stop the MSN code from continuing ?
