 I can confirm that I am also seeing this problem, as are several people I
 know, all connected to the same jabber server. The problem is still
 present in Pidgin 2.5.1 (linux and windows xp versions) and I would
 summarise it as follows:

 From looking at the server logs, the client *is* auto-joining. But Pidgin
 then refuses to show the chat window when you double click on the saved
 chat room. This fits with what other people have reported.

 The server software we use is: jabberd2 2.0s11 + mu-conference 0.7 running
 on ubuntu hardy. Jabberd2 came from hardy repos, mu-conference was built.
