 pidgin moved from having groups be tied to accounts years ago because it
 was virtually never what users wanted, it also didn't allow people to
 combine groups across accounts if they wanted to. The current system
 allows both (albeit only if the groups have different names).

 What exactly is the request in this ticket? Is it to go back to having
 groups be single-account only? Is it to allow hiding of certain 'types' of
 buddies? Is it something else?

 Does adding the relevant buddies into contacts not do what you want and
 clean up the buddy list window? If not, why not?
