 Tough to say.  I know that I see applications that fail in a similar
 manner, and some that succeed.  My assumption is that the applications
 that succeed detect the sleep/wake command, and verify that the previous
 display positions are still valid.  I am not sure if gtk provides a hook
 for these events or not.
