 perhaps one option could be to offer the user to contcatenate (just as a
 text file or a tar file ?) all old logs into bigger files (adding and text
 separator per conversation?).
 for instance logs that are older that a year/6months could be compacted
 into one file per day. and files that are older than X years into one file
 per months or so. this would leave use with a decent amount of logs.

 it would also speed up new conversation opening while having the history
 plugin activated.
