Pidgin crashes immediately when trying to start. It shows on the Windows
task bar with an error window that says "Error" in the window title and
"Unspecified fatal error encountered, aborting" message, with an "OK"
button. When I click the "OK" button, it clears from the Windows task bar
and raises a new error window with "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"
in the window title and the following message:
"Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Pidgin\Pidgin.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for moe infomation."
When I click the OK button, it's gone.
This occurred originally with version 2.4.3. I downloaded and installed
version 2.5.1. Same problem. I downloaded the debug version 2.5.1. Same
problem. I uninstalled Pidgin. Then reinstalled the debug version 2.5.1.
Same problem.
It has never created the Pidgin.RPT file.
I was able to get a "debug.log" file and am attaching it.
Could not find the prefs.xml file to rename it. It's not in the Pidgin
directory structure.
Searched your existing bug reports. Found lots of crashes, but nothing
quite like this.
Prior to this I've been using Pidgin successfully for about 3 months.
Love it.
Thanks for the help. I would hate to have to go back to Trillion or the
individual clients.
