 I too am having this same error, 0xc000007b, when ever I start Pidgin.

 OS win Xp pro sp3.  was working until I installed Symantec Endpoint
 Protection (SEP). Works fine after I uninstall SEP, crashes after I
 install again. Symantec says there is nothing wrong with their app, Yeah
 right, I'm just hitting all sites with affected apps.  Strange that I also
 get this with GIMP. Any Ideas what could be causing this?  I also get an
 app that uses .NET framework to crash too, different error msg but tied to
 same SEP install.  IN the .NET I get CLR error 8007000b, MS says thats a
 corrupted image.  Perhaps there's something shared?
