#7188: Pidgin crashes Immediately, No RPT file
-----------------------+----------------------------------------------------

     Type: defect | Status: new

  Version: 2.5.1 | Resolution:

Comment(by BrandonJT):

 I'm running WinXP SP3.

OK. I tried to get the pidgin.RPT file again. As usual it crashed before
generating the .RPT file. I searched the entire drive for it as well. No
luck. I rebooted in Safe Mode (with networking); same problem, not .RPT
file. I rebooted in Safe Mode (without networking), uninstalled Pidgeon
Debug version and then reinstalled Pigeon Debug Version. To my surprise,
it opened but had no accounts set up. I set up Googe Talk & Yahoo IM.
Still didn't see any .RPT file. Rebooted in Safe Mode with networking and
then tried to open Pigeon. It crashed as noted in my original report. No
 .RPT file.

I rebooted back to Safe Mode (without networking), opened Pigeon (it did
open), deleted the 2 accounts (I now have no accounts set up). I also
went into prefs to make sure there were no add-ons installed. Rebooted
into Safe Mode (with networking) and tried to open Pigeon. It crashed
without producing the .RPT file. I renamed the prefs.xml as mentioned in
your FAQ. Same crash, no .RPT file.

And I've been checking regularly to make sure there have not been 2
versions of the program running, thereby creating some kind of conflict.
Two simultaneously running versions has never shown up.

I reran pidgeon to get a new version of the debug.log file (attached
"debug3.log") without any accounts installed. Thought that might help.

So to summarize, it appears that whenever there is a network connection,
the program crashes even though there are no accounts configured and no
 add-ons set up.

Is there anything else that I might try to get you the .RPT file. Point
me in the direction and I'll do it.

 Thanks for the help.

            Terry Brandon
