 OK, I would try with gdb to get a backtrace. Pidgin gets very slow with
 any action when running for a long time, I test it for more than 4-6 hours
 that I'm connected, some times with my box locked. After with any action
 get very slow, opening a chat window, showing an notification (with
 guification plugin) or any other, and then, when select to exit the
 application it crash. For example, opening a chat window block the entire
 application for various seconds and then the chat windows respond
 normally, but if I close that chat window and open other, even with the
 previous chat windows open, or another action, pidgin block again for
 various seconds.
