 That could very well be, which would explain why I had assumed these were
 the same and why when I asked about the situation in the libxml2 irc
 channel I was told that I shouldn't have been seeing NULL there.

 Do we have confirmation that the upstream applied patch fixes this set of
 problems (without the libpurple patches)?
