New description:
Pidgin instantly crashes on start when my jabber account is supposed to be
auto-connected. (Changed the settings in accounts.xml manually.)
Pidgin starts and works almost normal when only ICQ and/or IRC or no
account is enabled. All plug-ins are disabled and the preferences set to
default.
Pidgin crashes/segfaults immediately when a jabber account is enabled, no
matter if it's an existing one or a new one (on a different server).
I'm running pidgin on debian unstable with libx11-6 (2:1.2-1) and libxml2
(2.7.3dfsg-1) installed.
Attachments are backtraces from gdb for both scenarios (start and enabling
jabber while pidgin is already running), although differences are minimal.
The file errors contains the error messages pidgin left in the console
before core dumps were enabled (startup scenario). I couldn't find any
pattern as to which message would appear when.
EDIT: removing gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad as millenix suggested seems to
keep pidgin from crashing (tried it as well)
EDIT2: Removed the description of the problems with the graphics as they
were solely related to a wrong configuration of my window manager.
