 With both msn and yahoo, if contact has mobile messaging turned on(or you
 set it in their details on msn), you cannot send them an offline message,
 because if they are offline/invisible, you see their mobile phone.

 This often leads to replies to a person who is invisible going to their
 mobile phone.
