 Same problem here, and, of course, everything worked fine earlier today.
 That said - the windows live servers were acting up just when this
 happened;
 there was a (short) period where they refused to let me sign in on the web
 as well.
 They seem to be behaving normally again (I can log in now on the web),
 but pidgin still fails to connect with the same error.
 Could Microsoft have made some changes to their system, causing pidgin to
 fail?
 Or am I being paranoid? :-)
