Comment:

 If you have a limited set of buddies on the given account for whom you
 wish logging to be enabled you could use the Options->Enable Logging menu
 item to enable it just for that buddy. A plugin could likely be written to
 automatically enable this setting for all conversations for a given
 account as well.
