 mmh it's happening on a regular basis here, also with longer similar or
 same length names. Try renaming two users to the same eg. "sh3mo" and open
 both, same thing. Since I don't merge ppl using multiple protocols, I have
 this pretty often.

 At work we use 4 letter abbreviations for all users in sametime, in fact I
 get it much more often, than it works correctly, so it's way from sporadic
 in this case.

 With same length users I would assume the problem is that inactive tabs
 are usually slightly smaller than active ones, thus the width calculated
 for an active tab is not always sufficient for an inactive one.

 If the correct client size of a tab can't be determined, maybe a static
 2-4px addition would help.
