Comment:

 What isn't doing anything? What did you try in Ubuntu? Are you saying you
 are unable to set status messages from pidgin on Ubuntu as well as from
 pidgin on Windows? Did you load the plugin and get the Debug Window output
 from changing status with it loaded?
