 I've installed the pidgin-dbg package and that has given me a bit more
 information.  It doesn't appear to be the same issue as #8594 as this
 happens every time when starting up.  When it reaches a particular contact
 with email prefix size of 30 characters it breaks:

 privacy reasons):
