 Dear Pidgin devs,

 I am experiencing a problem with pidgin's MSN protocol, which always fails
 to connect and returns an error message in pidgin's main window:

 Windows Live ID authentication:Invalid response

 I am currently using version 2.5.5, but I have experienced the same
 problem with older versions of pidgin in the past. Pidgin used to work
 fine with my gmail MSN account, but some day it just stopped working, and
 I've been getting the same error message ever since (same computer, same
 ISP, same account). This has been going on for about a year, possibly
 longer. I have done some experimenting myself and the results suggest it's
 a problem with pidgin. Here are the facts:

 - Pidgin (2.5.5) can't connect to MSN on WinXP SP3 and returns the error.
 - Pidgin can't connect to the same account on Ubuntu Jaunty (same PC, same
 error).
 - Trillian Basic 3.1 (WinXP) can connect to my gmail MSN account without
 any problems.
 - MirandaIM 0.7.19 (WinXP) can also connect without any problems.

 As you can see, pidgin is unable to connect on two different operating
 systems while the other two MSN clients are fully functional.

 Thoughts?
