 Pidgin 2.5.8 uses a different yahoo! login mechanism compared to Pidgin
 2.5.6. For 2.5.8 to work, your proxy needs to be able to allow ssl
 connections apart from connection to port 5050. Upgrading can cause this
 issue, since ssl was not required in 2.5.6.

 So, can you check if your proxy allows SSL
