 Today I discovered that some of the logs of my previous session have
 simply not been saved, altough Pidgin had been closed properly before
 system shutdown. If for some contacts it simply resulted in the last
 session not being stored, for one of them it has been much worse since (a
 Yahoo! contact to whom I speak through MSN network) the log file has
 simply disappeared: the folder
 .purple/logs/MSN/myname at hotmail.com/contactname at yahoo.com is empty.

 I'm using Pidgin 2.5.8 on Mandriva 2009.1, and I have my .purple directory
 is pointing at the .purple of my Windows Vista installation - which has
 been working fine for the past 6 months.
