Comment:

 I don't remember the ticket number, but this is a duplicate.

 This is some kind of font issue. You can try changing your outgoing font
 and see if that helps. Also, you do not need to click on the input line.
 As long as focus is on the window, when you start typing, it will go
 directly to the text input.
