New description:

When doodling, a crash occurs if the other party closes the doodle window
while I am choosing the color. Crash occurs only when I choose another
color (move the handle) AFTER the other party closes doodle window.
 Repeated the scenario, same effect.
Other party uses Yahoo Messenger v8 under Windows XP. Other party
messenger did not have any crashes/lockups.[[BR]]

 Debian GNU/Linux unstable (sid)
 Linux tengwar 2.6.26-1-686 #1 SMP Sat Jan 10 18:29:31 UTC 2009 i686
 GNU/Linux

 (similar to ticket #1726)
it is 4AM here, so I did not get a backtrace. The bug should be easy to
 reproduce:

 STEPS TO REPRODUCE:[[BR]]
(A: the first party, B: the second party):[[BR]]

 0. A: Pidgin, B: Y!M[[BR]]
 1. A or B: start doodle[[BR]]
 2. A: open color palette dialog[[BR]]
 3. A: (optional) choose a color (do NOT close palette dialog)[[BR]]
 4. B: close doodle[[BR]]
 5. A: choose another color[[BR]]
 [A CRASH, B OK]

Comment:

My apologies for making you wait. It seems that the bug can be reproduced
 in a simpler manner:[[BR]]
 1. open doodle[[BR]]
 2. open color palette and change color (do NOT close palette)[[BR]]
 3. close doodle[[BR]]
 4. change color in palette[[BR]]
 [CRASH][[BR]]
There is one thing I should tell: by reproducing the crash through gdb,
pidgin (along with my entire graphical interface) freezes, so I am forced
to kill it. Nevertheless, the backtrace is attached.
