New description:

 Inserting the character ؟ (the "Irony Mark") into a chat causes formatting
 to becoming "messed up."

 The screwed up text is typed as such:
 ؟How are you.

 In essence, when your message begins with an "irony mark" the text becomes
 right justified.  (Periods, etc, appear at the opposite side if there is
 not character proceeding it.  "؟abc." would have the period be on the left
 side of the text, but "؟abc.d" would have the period positioned
 correctly.)

 I am running Windows XP, SP3.
