 hi, it's no more reproducible for me.
 What have changed in a meantime:
 - migrated to ubuntu 9.04 => pidgin 2.5.5 (WinXP box no more available)
 - got external ip from home - before I connected via 1 ip with maaaaaany
 other people (as my internet provider uses NAT behind which are all people
 hidden)
