Comment:

 This is working as intended.

 There are two use-cases seen with the dialog.  One is people who set a
 message related to their status and do not want to keep the message when
 they change status because the old message was directly related to their
 current status.  The other is people who set status messages that they
 want to persist between different statuses.

 The original behavior of the statusbox was the functionality it currently
 has; it was changed in the earlier 2.0 days to remove the message when
 changing status. This makes the person in the first use case happy, but
 really annoys anyone who uses the second use case.  The functionality was
 changing to what it currently is (where the message is ''kept'', but is
 completely selected so that it can be deleted with a single keystroke) as
 a compromise between the two use cases.
