Comment:

 This request is best implemented as a plugin.  Currently we as Pidgin
 developers are not interested in implementing it.  This ticket remains
 open as an invitation for someone to write a plugin fulfilling the
 request.[[BR]]Not all protocols support such a feature and as such it
 isn't always possible to do this. Doing it without protocol support would
 require pidgin to simply ignore messages from people in the "blocked"
 groups and that's not something I think pidgin should handle. A plugin
 could be created which simply queued up messages from buddies in the
 "blocked" groups and then displayed them at a later point.

 For protocols that support this sort of thing it would be appropriate for
 pidgin to support it, though how best to do that depends on the protocol
 features in question (and will likely make more sense after the SoC
 privacy work this summer is completed).
