Comment:

 There was a bug regarding picking the most appropriate XMPP resource when
 multiple resources existed. I would imagine having fixed that issue would
 help this situation. I was never very clear on what was going on in that
 other ticket unfortunately, but assuming the problem in this ticket is the
 XMPP resource one then it doesn't seem to be the same issue as #4933.

 And since XMPP didn't until recently support "idle" reporting that was
 likely also going to complicate things.

 So it would be helpful to know if this is still happening in 2.5.8/2.6.0.
