 There are two issues with the current Perl tests... one is the error as
 shown below and the other is I have --disable-perl yet the autoconf script
 is still checking for Perl.

 checking for perl >= 5.8.1... Can't find string terminator '"' anywhere
 before EOF at -e line 1.
