 We run OpenFire here, XMPP server on port 5222 internally.  A client
 recently upgraded to 2.6.1(Windows) and discovered that it would not work.
 After troubleshooting, it was determined that no packets are sent from the
 system to the XMPP server on port 5222 during a connect operation.

 I have tested in Windows XP and Windows Vista.  Telnet from both machines
 to port 5222 shows activity on tcpdump, while a connect operation shows no
 activity.
