 I have tried both 2.5.8 and as of today, 2.6.1. I am not able to get
 incoming nor outbound IM sounds. I can get the IM sound when the window is
 initially created and I get the sign on/sign off sounds, but none for a
 conversation.

 I've verified the system tray icon does not have mute checked, in
 preferences - sounds I've chosen to enable sounds always. I have play
 event enabled for Buddy Logs In/Out, Message Received, Received begins
 conversation (I get a sound for this), and Message Sent.

 When I highlight a sound event and click preview, I am able to hear the
 sound.
