 As it seems that pidgin devs won't take a look what KDE4 might do wrong
 here, I chose to open a bug report on kde.org. I hope my amateurish
 assumption are correct so far.

 Please pidgin devs, please do take a look at this problem and if possible
 give the KDE folks some hints where the problem might be. Tell them how
 you do the blinking stuff or whatever might help them to find the bug.
